The Price Tickets

David Suchet and Brendan Coyle star in the West End transfer of Jonathan Church's 50th anniversary production of Arthur Millers' play The Price. The play will run at the Wyndham's Theatre, with tickets now on.

Two brothers, Victor and Walter Franz, one a New York cop nearing retirement, the other a successful surgeon, meet for the first time in sixteen years to sell their family furniture stored in the attic of a condemned New York brownstone. Revelation follows stunning revelation as each brother realises the price they have paid for heart-breaking decisions made decades earlier. Overseeing the psychological battlefield is the wily veteran appraiser, Gregory Solomon, who has his own demons to conquer as well as securing the best possible price for the Franz family possessions.

The play stars Brendan Coyle, David Suchet, Sara Stewart and Adrian Lukis, and runs at Wyndham's Theatre from until 27th April 2019.

David Suchet is best-known for his iconic portrayal of Hercule Poirot in the ITV series of Agatha Christie's classic murder mystery novels. His on-stage career spans over 50 years, and most recently saw him star in Jamie Lloyd's Pinter at the Pinter season.

Brendan Coyle won the Olivier Award for best actor in a supporting role when he appeared in Conor McPherson's The Weir in 1999. He is also known for his screen appearances in Lark Rise to Candleford and Downton Abbey.

Our The Price Review

London is in the midst of a mini-Arthur Miller season - this week will also see the opening of a new production of The American Clock at the Old Vic, directed by the American director Rachel Chavkin, while down the street at the Young Vic Marianne Elliott and Miranda Cromwell will co-direct Death of a Salesman in May.

David Suchet interview - 'I hope we'll do Arthur Miller justice in The Price'
Tuesday, December 18, 2018

As of February next year, David Suchet will have spent 50 years on stage. Whether he’s being directed on stage by Harold Pinter, or on screen as one of the most recognisable characters of a generation, he has been pretty much omnipresent and worked his way to being the ever-reliable actor he is today. Coinciding with his 50th anniversary on stage, he will perform in Jonathan Church’s acclaimed production of The Price, one of Arthur Miller’s plays lesser-known on this side of the pond. The piece transfers to the West End from its original run at Theatre Royal Bath.
